4th of JULY JUST AROUND THE CORNER - REFLECT

My, breaking habits - Friday night and I am posting on my blog. Just too much to tell that I don't want to wait!! There are some awesome people going to church at Shiloh -- on Tuesday night I posted a need for food (strange food for snacks like olives, seeds, honey, etc) and the wonderful ladies (some I don't even think I have met) met the call and offered to bring what ever was needed. I only need dates, bread, cheese, and lemonade to make the kid's snacks a wonderful retreat into Nazareth!!

I am so sore in my legs and my right arm that I cannot walk without looking like I have a artificial leg or even press the hair spray can. It is all because I helped Travis put styrophane stones on his 24 foot city of Nazareth. If you get an opportunity or not - go see the city of Nazareth that Travis in room 102 - it really is amazing -- his vision and ability!!

Last night I took dinner to a friend who used to work at the bank and now is battling cancer. She just had a double mastectomy and 19 lymph nodes removed - still facing chemo and radiation. I went the easy way - Chicken Taquitoes Ole', green salad ( mine had mixed greens, strawberries, red onion, toasted almonds, with Raspberry vinaigrette to put on as desired, and Sopapilla Cheesecake. I am not bragging - please believe me - I am just telling you how easy it is to do something good - even if you do have an outside the home job!]]

Well - it is almost July 4 - I heard the liquor stores were so full you waited in line for over 10 minutes, Sam's lines were even longer and on and on and on. How many of these people do you think will stop on that day, and remember the loved ones that gave their lives for our freedom. Wave that flag and never forget!!!Read this and truly take the words to heart. They were recited in 1969 by Red Skelton, a wonderful comedian then!!

Commentary on the Pledge of Allegiance
by Red Skelton

As a schoolboy, one of Red Skelton's teachers explained the words and meaning of the Pledge of Allegiance to his class. Skelton later wrote down, and eventually recorded, his recollection of this lecture. It is followed by an observation of his own.

I - - Me; an individual; a committee of one.
Pledge - - Dedicate all of my worldly goods to give without self-pity.

Allegiance - - My love and my devotion.

To the Flag - - Our standard; Old Glory ; a symbol of Freedom; wherever she waves there is respect, because your loyalty has given her a dignity that shouts, Freedom is everybody's job.

United - - That means that we have all come together.

States - - Individual communities that have united into forty-eight great states. Forty-eight individual communities with pride and dignity and purpose. All divided with imaginary boundaries, yet united to a common purpose, and that is love for country.

And to the Republic - - Republic--a state in which sovereign power is invested in representatives chosen by the people to govern. And government is the people; and it's from the people to the leaders, not from the leaders to the people.

For which it stands

One Nation - - One Nation--meaning, so blessed by God.

Indivisible - - Incapable of being divided.

With Liberty - - Which is Freedom; the right of power to live one's own life, without threats, fear, or some sort of retaliation.

And Justice - - The principle, or qualities, of dealing fairly with others.

For All - - For All--which means, boys and girls, it's as much your country as it is mine.

And now, boys and girls, let me hear you recite the Pledge of Allegiance:
I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic, for which it stands; one nation, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.
Since I was a small boy, two states have been added to our country, and two words have been added to the Pledge of Allegiance: Under God. Wouldn't it be a pity if someone said that is a prayer, and that would be eliminated from schools, too?
Red Skelton

Well - how smart that funny man was! 42 years later and it is sad! Let's never forget what it really should mean when we recite the Pledge of Alegiance.!!
(You can google "Red Skelton's Plede" and see him recite this!!)

What are your plans - are you cooking?? I have given you about 200 recipes over the last couple of years -- so please allow me a "by" for tonight! Have a wonderful weekend, a great 4th of July and please - as you boat, waterski, barbeque or just relax, reflect on how we got to where we are and how God took care of us! May He continue to bless each of you!
